A Special Keynote Conversation with

Actor, Matthew Modine and Writer, FX Feeney

MATTHEW MODINE has been called “one of the best, most adaptable film actors of his generation” by legendary New York Times film critic Vincent Canby. Modine has worked with many of the film industry’s most acclaimed directors including Christopher Nolan, Oliver Stone, Sir Alan Parker, Stanley Kubrick, Robert Altman, Alan J. Pakula, John Schlesinger, Tony Richardson, Robert Falls, Sir Peter Hall, Abel Ferrara, Spike Lee, Tom DiCillo, Mike Figgis, Jonathan Demme, and John Sayles to name but a few. Matthew has also been making films for over two decades, and has recently developed immersive, interactive new media projects in the form of award-winning apps for children and adults.

FX FEENEY worked for several years as an inker and painter at Hanna-Barbera Studios after graduating from the California Institute of the Arts in 1976. By 1980 he became a film and book critic for L.A. Weekly. This led to Feeney serving as a resident film critic and creative consultant to the legendary Z Channel between 1983 and 1989, directing dozens of commercials for the service. After Z Channel folded, Feeney worked alternately as a screenwriter and freelance journalist. His work has continued to appear in L.A. Weekly, as well as in American Film, Movieline, People Magazine, Variety, Vanity Fair, and the magazine of the Writers Guild of America, West.
