KCET Heads For Dramatic Coastlines of Northern California In Third Season of Web Series CALIFORNIA COASTAL TRAIL

New Season Showcases San Francisco Bay Area, Marin County and Sonoma County with Social Media Videos, Historical Narratives and Cultural Points of Interest plus Camping and Hiking Guides

CALIFORNIA COASTAL TRAIL premieres Tuesday, July 4 online at kcet.org/coastaltrail

Burbank, Calif. – June 8, 2017 – KCET, the nation’s largest independent public television station, announced today a new season of the digital series  CALIFORNIA COASTAL TRAIL. The web series, produced by Rigler Creative, aims to raise awareness about the California Coastal Trail; its past, its present and its future through a series of historical narratives, camping and hiking guides, as well as articles about important cultural points of interest along the Trail. Now in its third season, the online series is in support of KCET’s “Summer of the Environment” initiative, and will premiere six new video segments (one video per week) at kcet.org/coastaltrail starting just after the long holiday weekend on July 7 at kcet.org/coastaltrail. The series will also be available on Roku and Apple TV.

The new season will head north passing through Marin and Sonoma County, looking at spots along the coast like Lands End in San Francisco tracing the legendary Sutro Baths and a newly restored wetland habitat on the site of a former army base at Marin Headlands. We’ll relive California history with a group of schoolchildren at Fort Ross, a former Russian outpost to supply hunting and whaling efforts in Alaska during the early 1800’s. We’ll celebrate with the Kashia Band of Pomo Indians as they take back land and trail on the coastline originally inhabited by the Kashia people. Season 3 concludes with a visit to The Sea Ranch, the iconic architectural experiment by the Bay Area’s finest 1960’s era designers and landscape architects, now a living sustainable community.
